ah well, so much for my attempt, at posting more than once last year...
hmm, where are we at love?
still trying to find my "perfect job", am discovering that I need to start focusing on the positive, as opposed to wallowing - but it is such a comfy place!!!! - suck it up princess, and get yer shit together. Hubby's stupid work is applying to cut their hours via EI-assistance - which is gonna mean a pretty big chunk of our income is going to be gonzo - I'm hoping he chooses to use this opportunity to explore other forms of work. GIving up the perks from working somewhere for 20+ years is hard though - every Friday off, and 5+ weeks of vacation (with very little notice too) - these are all things that come into play for him - and I totally get that too...
Crochet - making a lapghan for a friend who has recently retired, I started using this wonderful wool blend I found in Finland last year - and had to add some black wool stuff, cuz, of course, I don't have enough of it - gaahhh, wish I could read Suomi! - on deck, my nephew has requested a new vest to replace the one he doesn't fit anymore, @ the moment, I'm loving this pattern http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/adventuring-sage-cable-vest - but as it's made for a man, not a 6-year-old-boy, I may try to do it in fishermans wool, and then ahem, wash it to size... - also on the hook is a fuzzy blanket I owe my niece Karsen, since I made her sister a poncho when she stayed over, and I didn't make her anything... Plus another dog sweater for the wee-pooch (which I think I'll finish first, cuz winter is coming) and I've sadly discovered Inside Crochet mag from the U.K. - the only place to buy it is in this liiiitttllle shop on 41st, near the 'tree streets', sigh, it is so beautiful, but I can't justify the 58 Bps they want for international subscriptions (yes, that's approx $125 per year)
Photography - took 1000's of them this year, Luc was playing for 2.5 field hockey teams, and Gord decided he wanted to play box lax again, so I had tons of opportunity. I also did a first for me!! Went on a photowalk - the worldwidephotowalk to be exact. Cool oppporunity, tons of fun, but not so well thought out, as far as destination, cuz we ended up at 3rd beach Stanley Park, and had to find our own way back to 1st beach in the dark - was a bit scary for those who where there on their own, and not with a bunch of folks to walk with... but it was a great learning opp. I still enjoy the "moving humans" pictures over the static posed humans stuff...
ooohhh oooohhhh - Beading!!! almost forgot - just finished 2 really cute (& very late) Mother's Day presents for the Mothers... my mom got Dragonfly-themed family bracelet, and my M-I-L got an Angel-themed one. The tails of each figure are in their respective birthstone colours, and I constructed each bracelet out of gold-plated maille rings I recently got. I like them, and my mom was very happy with hers - of course, no pictures either - gah
speaking of which, I really have to take some pics of the stuff I've been making & post them... I feel like i'm starting to sound like a show-off or something...
